He is a member of the Doctors Without Borders organization that has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999 for providing medical relief worldwide. Their work has motivated Dr. Achar to become the best physician he can be. He also works with clinical trials related to sports medicine research.
When not working he spends as much time as possible with his wife and baby boy, Rohan. He also enjoys playing classical guitar, running and playing soccer.

Previous to his time here at UCSD Healthcare, Dr. Achar worked with Doctors Without Borders as a Medical Director for the Children's Therapeutic Feeding Center in Kenya, Africa. In addition to his practice, he is currently a clinical instructor for UCSD School of Medicine.
