Eric R. Jamison, M.D.
Family Medicine
After graduating from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA with a B.A.
in English Literature and Writing, Dr. Jamison earned his MD degree from USC Medical School. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the Stanislaus Medical Center ,and earned a Master’s in Public Health from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in 1990. Between 1990 and 1994 Dr. Jamison worked in a variety of primary care settings in California and Alaska. In 1994 he accepted a position as Medical Director of the Dagoretti Community Health Project in Nairobi, Kenya.
After four years in Africa, he returned briefly to California, and then moved to New Zealand, where he served as a rural general practitioner and emergency physician. Upon returning to the U.S. in 2001, Dr. Jamison took a faculty position with the Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program as an Office Medical Director and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at UCSF. Dr. Jamison was recognized as Faculty of the Year in 2005.
Dr. Jamison comes to UCSD with a rich and diverse practice experience in various geographic settings, as well as an excitement for teaching. He enjoys anthropology, global medicine, and outdoor sports of all types, including swimming, running, technical skiing, and mountain climbing, as well as reading, piano, and spending time with family.
His practice interests focus on complex medical problems and personalized medical care, including alternative medicine.
