Anne Roberts, M.D.
Radiology
Radiology - Interventional

Dr. Anne Roberts believes that many procedures which used to require a surgical approach can now be done with needles, wires and small plastic tubes. This is the basis of Interventional Radiology a relatively new branch of medicine that combines the use of imaging (CT, ultrasound, x-rays and MRI) with special devices to treat patients without resorting to large surgical incisions.
Problems that she is particularly interested in working with included the non-surgical treatment of uterine fibroids, the treatment of women with chronic pelvic pain caused by the pelvic congestion syndrome, treatment of liver cancer with minimally invasive techniques, treatment of peripheral vascular disease and minimally invasive treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms.
Dr. Roberts spent a sabbatical year working at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the Division of Cardiovascular, Respiratory, and Neurological Devices (Office of Device Evaluation) in the Center for Devices & Radiologic Health (CDRH). During that year she was involved in evaluating many devices prior to them coming to market. After completing her sabbatical, she was appointed to service on the FDA's Circulatory System Devices Panel.
She has been active in the Society of Interventional Radiology serving on multiple committees and offices including serving as the President of the Society in 1996-1997. She also serves as a Trustee on the American Board of Radiology and has been elected to the Council Steering Committee of the American College of Radiology.
