Dr. Anne Wallace is director of UCSD Cancer Center's breast care unit and has been the leader of the breast program since 1995. She is board certified in both general surgery and plastic surgery. She has extensive experience in all aspects of breast health, specifically breast cancer and breast reconstruction. She has served as chairman of the California Breast Cancer Research Council and vice- president of Cancer Control for the Golden Triangle Division of the American Cancer Society. Other areas of expertise include melanoma and soft tissue sarcoma, as well as any type of cancer reconstruction.
Her research interests include development of better imaging technologies for both treatment and detection of cancer. This specifically is linked with her strong interest in high-risk patients and breast cancer prevention. Through her efforts, Dr. Wallace has brought the newest advances in breast cancer to UCSD, including ductal lavage and ductoscopy. She has been involved in much collaboration with basic scientists in the development of novel markers for breast cancer. She is currently conducting a study evaluating RAS activation and breast cancer clinical outcome.

Dr. Wallace was honored as the Komen Foundation Breast Cancer Clinician of the Year in 1999 and Clinical Teacher of the Year in the UCSD School of Medicine Division of Plastic Surgery in 2000. In addition, she recently received a Las Patronas grant for the development of a breast cancer resource center within her breast care unit at the Moores UCSD Cancer Center.
