Thomas J. Kipps, MD, PhD has a national and international reputation for his work in cancer research and serves as the Deputy Director, Research Operations, for the UCSD Cancer Center. He is the author of over 200 publications and is the Principal Investigator on several peer-reviewed grants including the recent NCI award of $16.5 Million for the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Consortium involving collaboration with eight other Cancer Centers. Kipps also directs the Specialized Center of Research in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, which is sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America. He has 20 years experience in combining research and clinical care responsibilities.

He currently is Deputy Director of Research at the Moores UCSD Cancer Center and Co-Director of the Hematologic Malignancies Program.
